EY Calls Off Split of Audit and Consulting Units

After initially hitting pause on its plan to break up its consulting and audit practices, Big 4 firm EY is now taking a cue from the Gershwin brothers and calling the whole thing off, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The sticking point appears to be the firm’s U.S. affiliate, which declined to participate in the plan, known as Project Everest. The project had been plagued from its outset by disagreements among partners over compensation and resources.
