CohnReznick Grows in Texas With Combination

Looking to expand its presence in the Lone Star State, New York-based IPA 100 firm CohnReznick LLP (FY22 net revenue of $838.6 million) is combining with Dallas-based BKM Sowan Horan (BKMSH).

Founded in 2010, BKMSH provides accounting, tax and advisory services to clients across a wide array of industries, including natural resources, real estate, hospitality, health care, professional services and investment management. When the deal closes on Nov. 1, BKMSH partners Rick Sowan and Mike Barber will lead the Dallas growth strategy and client and people experiences locally, along with founding partners Tim Horan, Trey Kennedy and Brad Marckx.

CohnReznick has a history in North Texas. It is the official accounting firm of the Dallas Cowboys with about 12 staff working on the account, according to The Dallas Morning News. CEO David Kessler told the newspaper that he plans to increase the firm’s Texas workforce by 20% in the next year.

“The BKMSH team makes an extraordinary addition to our commitment to the robust Dallas business community,” he says. “We look forward to working with Rick, Mike and our entire Dallas team to serve our clients and to continue the career growth for our new team members in our award-winning culture.”

“BKMSH is an exceptional firm and was courted by many national firms looking to enter the Dallas market,” adds Allan Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, who advised both firms on the transaction. “Finding a home with CohnReznick is a cultural and strategic fit with tremendous synergies.”
