The AICPA has elected Okorie Ramsey as its new chair. He currently serves as vice president, Sarbanes/Oxley, for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals.
Ramsey served for the past year as the AICPA’s vice chair and has held several other volunteer posts, including on the AICPA board of directors, the AICPA audit and finance committee, the AICPA investments committee and AICPA council. He is also a lifetime member of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).
As he steps into this role, Ramsey has identified his three main areas of focus: (1) innovation to advance the profession; (2) instill integrity and trust into sustainability; and (3) support the next generation and give them enhanced opportunities to succeed.
“We are a profession of leaders,” Ramsey said in his acceptance speech. “And it is our duty to guide people, firms, businesses and economies. Together, we can seize the moment and shape our future.”
The AICPA also voted Carla McCall, MP of Westborough, Mass.-based IPA 100 firm AAFCPAs, as vice chair.
