Ralph Albert Thomas, who has served as CEO and executive director of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) since 1999, is retiring effective June 30, 2023.
“I will truly miss my time at the NJCPA — all of the members, staff and colleagues from other state CPA societies and national organizations that work so hard to keep the CPA profession relevant — but it is time to find new frontiers,” says Thomas. “I look forward to what lies ahead for me, my family and the new connections still to be made.”
In addition to his work at NJCPA – which has included advocacy for and the expansion of the NJCPA Scholarship Fund – Thomas has over the years served on New Jersey’s sales and use tax commission, the New Jersey Senate’s economic and fiscal policy working group and the public policy center at Rowan University.
“Ralph is sincerely a one-of-a-kind CEO who makes everyone feel special, from the interns just starting out to the managing partners and CFOs that have the pleasure to meet him,” says NJCPA COO Theresa Hinton.
The NJCPA has established a search committee and engaged an external search firm to identify its next CEO.
