CohnReznick Launches Digital Forensics Lab

New York-based IPA 100 firm CohnReznick (FY24 net revenue of $1.05 billion) has opened a digital forensic lab facility outside of Washington, D.C. The lab will serve as the nerve center for a variety of incident response solutions to help businesses identify the nature and extent of a cyber incident, collect and preserve digital evidence, and put steps in place to safeguard against future cyber-attacks and breaches.

Led by CohnReznick advisory principal David Sun, who has 25 years of advanced cybersecurity and digital forensics experience, the lab and team will help organizations involved in a cyber incident:

  • Gather and preserve digital evidence from devices and systems impacted by the incident
  • Construct a timeline of events and identify the methods used by attackers
  • Identify the root cause and nature of the incident
  • Help the business comply with breach notification mandates and regulations
  • Help recover lost or compromised data
  • Provide expert witness testimony if litigation is an outcome of the incident

“Just last month, Check Point Research reported that Q2 2024 saw a 30% year-over-year increase in cyber-attacks globally, reaching 1,636 attacks per organization per week,” said Sun. “As these incidents become much more prominent, so can the damage they inflict.”

“Our goal is to help our clients develop a culture of resilience through their cybersecurity, data privacy, and incident response strategies and systems,” notes Bhavesh Vadhani, global Leader of CohnReznick’s cybersecurity, technology risk and privacy practice. “Our digital forensics lab is part of a growing toolkit we have in helping clients build, run, protect and transform their risk management programs.”
