New York-based IPA 100 firm Ernst & Young LLP (EY) has announced the appointment of Christy Baumann as the San Antonio office MP (OMP), effective April 1. In her new role, Baumann will oversee nearly 1,300 EY professionals driving exceptional client service and helping companies in the area solve their most pressing challenges. She succeeds Jeff Rummel, who retires on June 30 after a decorated 37-year career at EY. Rummel assumed the role of OMP in 2020, and he helped clients and colleagues deftly navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and emerge stronger from the crisis. During his five years at the helm of the firm’s San Antonio office, the firm’s local headcount more than doubled.

“Jeff is an incredible leader in every regard, and I’m looking forward to building on the momentum he’s created in the city we both cherish,” said Baumann. “We’re anticipating even more growth for San Antonio’s dynamic business environment, and we look forward to supporting the many local companies whose impact reaches around the globe.”
Baumann has been with EY her entire 28-year career, having joined the firm in 1996 after graduating from Texas A&M University. Prior to her new role as OMP, she served clients as an Assurance partner. She has extensive experience leading large audit teams, and she is well-versed in the major industries driving growth and innovation in San Antonio and Texas at large. Baumann leads recruiting for the San Antonio office, and she has served several local organizations, including Junior Achievement, San Antonio Youth Literacy and the Texas A&M San Antonio Foundation.
“I know Christy will excel as the firm’s new leader in San Antonio,” Rummel said. “She has a long track record of delivering high-quality service for our clients, and her wide-ranging industry knowledge is precisely what’s needed as EY strengthens its investment in San Antonio and local businesses.”
