Goal-Setting: Why Wait for January?

A new approach gaining traction on social media, called “October Theory,” suggests using the last three months of the year to put life and work improvements into motion, rather than waiting until January.

The Wall Street Journal reported that instead of breaking out the blankets and sipping pumpkin-flavored lattes, October Theory adherents are setting themselves up for success in January by putting new habits and routines into place now, when school is back in session and the seasons are changing. It feels like an introspective time for many people. The Journal points out that the Jewish new year – Rosh Hashana – takes place in September or October, giving millions a time to look back.

Others look at the October as a time to make sure goals set earlier in the year are met, or at least advanced, before the year wraps up. Want some ideas? Check out the article.
