Illinois CPA Society Names New President and CEO

Brown

The Illinois CPA Society has chosen Geoffrey Brown as its new president and CEO. As just the fifth leader in the Society’s 120-year history and its first Black president and CEO, Brown succeeds Todd Shapiro, who is retiring after 24 years with the organization.

Brown has more than 20 years of experience as an association professional, including the past nine with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), where he is currently the CEO. Prior to NAPFA, he was an account executive with Sentergroup and an association manager at association management company SmithBucklin.

“Geof is the right leader for our continued focus on enhancing the value of the CPA profession through the strategic initiatives of education, information, advocacy and connections,” says Illinois CPA Society board chair Mary Fuller.
