Knoxville, Tenn.-based IPA 100 firm PYA PC (FY19 net revenue of $53.2 million) has admitted three new consulting principals: Orlando Alvarez on the firm’s strategy team, Ken McCosh in the transaction advisory service and Mike Nichols in the reimbursement service.
Alvarez has nearly three decades of experience as a strategic advisor to health systems, focusing on partnering and integration, service line optimization, portfolio diversification and strategic agenda management. Prior to joining PYA, he served as managing director and partner leading the enterprise strategy practice at Berkeley Research Group. He has also served as chief strategy officer at Cleveland Clinic Florida and has held C-suite positions in multiple not-for-profit and investor-owned health care organizations.
McCosh has spent more than two decades assisting health systems with fiscal management, productivity improvement and strategic planning needs, with expertise in accounting, revenue enhancement, project management, budgeting, forecasting, transactions and other advisory services. Most recently, he served as system VP of finance for Ascension Florida St. Vincent’s Healthcare.
Nichols has served as a leader in the health care reimbursement space working with national health systems as well as international accounting and audit firms for more than 35 years, specializing in developing, supporting and enhancing Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, audit and net patient revenue leadership. He most recently served as associate VP of net revenue and reimbursement for Rush University Medical Center.
“The demand for experienced executives to help our clients develop new strategies has never been greater,” says PYA president and CEO Marty Brown. “The addition of these outstanding health care leaders, with strong backgrounds in strategic advisory services, strengthens our capabilities and broadens clients’ access to the expertise and guidance they seek.”
