Atlanta-based IPA 100 firm Frazier & Deeter (FY25 net revenue of $198.5 million) has acquired Auburn, Ala.-based IPA 400 firm Machen McChesney (FY25 net revenue of $13.8 million) and its sister company, FocusPay Solutions, expanding the firm’s presence in Alabama and its outsourced accounting and payroll capabilities.
Machen McChesney provides accounting, audit and assurance, tax, business advisory, valuation and outsourced accounting services. FocusPay provides payroll processing, benefits administration and HR services to businesses in Alabama and surrounding areas.
“Outsourced accounting is a service that a lot of our clients are seeking, and this combination rounds out our capabilities to now include a full suite of back-office support, including payroll,” said Jeremy Jones, CEO of Frazier & Deeter.
“We’re pleased to join Frazier & Deeter because it means our clients get the best of both worlds: the same personal, long-term relationships we’ve built in this community for decades, now backed by the resources and expertise of a Top 50 accounting and advisory firm,” said Mike Machen, MP of Machen McChesney.
Machen McChesney will be integrated into Frazier & Deeter’s technology, talent development, finance, marketing and business development infrastructure.
The deal continues Frazier & Deeter’s recent expansion. Earlier this year, the firm acquired Minneapolis-based Copeland Buhl, establishing its first Midwest presence.
