Aprio Expands Fieldguide Collaboration to Develop Agentic AI for Audits

Atlanta-based IPA 100 firm Aprio (FY25 net revenue of $681.3 million) expanded its collaboration with San Francisco-based Fieldguide to co-develop role-specific AI agents for financial audit engagements.

The agents will support work across the audit lifecycle, including planning and risk assessment, fieldwork, review and financial statement preparation. Aprio professionals will configure and refine the agents based on the firm’s audit methodology and engagement workflows.

Aprio said the technology is designed to align with AICPA, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) requirements while maintaining human oversight throughout the audit process. The agents will be introduced across Aprio’s industry practices over time.

By using AI for tasks such as preparation, data validation and documentation, Aprio aims to give its professionals more time to interpret findings, address complex issues and communicate with clients.

“Great audit work has always been about the relationship between our practitioners’ judgment and our clients’ business realities,” said Michael Lange, partner and audit practice group leader at Aprio. “Our work with Fieldguide is designed to deepen that relationship, building AI around our own methodology and standards so our teams can spend more time on insight, judgment and what’s next for our clients.”

The initiative is part of Aprio’s previously announced $300 million, five-year investment in AI and automation. Fieldguide will continue refining its platform using input from Aprio professionals.

“The future of audit depends on how well firms combine human judgment with AI-driven execution,” said Jin Chang, co-founder and CEO of Fieldguide. “By co-building agentic workflows with us, Aprio is shaping how its methodology and people work alongside AI from the ground up.”

Aprio and Fieldguide began working together through a three-month payment card industry compliance pilot in March 2023, which became a full platform agreement that May. Aprio expanded its use of Fieldguide across its risk advisory services practice in December 2025 before extending the platform to its financial audit practice in May 2026, laying the groundwork for the AI agents now under development.
