Arlington, Va.-based Ascend announced that two of its partner firms expanded through separate acquisitions, with San Jose, Calif.-based IPA 200 firm PP&Co (FY25 net revenue of $32.8 million) and New York-based IPA 200 firm LMC (FY25 net revenue of $57.4 million) each adding firms effective Aug. 1 and July 1, respectively.
PP&Co added San Jose, Calif.-based Ami Shah CPA, bringing founder Ami Shah and 12 team members, including four based in India. The firm specializes in tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and families.
“Ami Shah and her team have built something special: a firm that knows exactly who they serve and how best to serve them,” said Phuong Mayer, CEO of PP&Co. “Ami’s team also brings a culture that mirrors our own. It is collaborative, high-performing and genuinely committed to client service and to each other. Together, we’ll continue delivering thoughtful, integrated solutions tailored to our clients’ evolving needs.”
LMC opened its first Long Island office through the addition of Ricky S. Spike and eight members of his team from Ives Sultan & Spike CPAs. The practice provides accounting, tax, financial planning, estate planning and bookkeeping services.
“Ricky Spike and his outstanding team bring decades of experience and deep technical expertise that will further strengthen our ability to serve clients,” said Lee M. Cohen, CEO of LMC. “The opening of our first Long Island office and the addition of Ricky and his team represent an important milestone in our growth and our commitment to delivering the expertise and personalized service our clients rely on.”
Both transactions continue Ascend’s strategy of expanding through its partner firms. PP&Co joined Ascend in 2024, while LMC joined in 2023. Since joining Ascend, PP&Co has doubled in size, while LMC has more than tripled its revenue, according to the company.
