Doeren Mayhew Acquires Sowers & Company

Troy, Mich.-based IPA 100 firm Doeren Mayhew (FY24 net revenue of $170.4 million) acquired Houston-based Sowers & Company, expanding its tax and outsourced accounting practices in the market.

All Sowers & Company employees joined Doeren Mayhew on June 18 and relocated to the firm’s Houston office. Founder and President Jason Sowers and shareholder Erin Fowler joined Doeren Mayhew in principal roles.

Sowers founded the firm 20 years ago. The practice provides tax, advisory and accounting services to high-net-worth individuals and small and midsized businesses, with experience in estate planning and back-office accounting.

“Sowers & Company aligns well with our continued strategic growth efforts,” said Chris Masters, Houston MP at Doeren Mayhew. “Their back-office accounting services will also complement our firm.”

Doeren Mayhew has integrated five firms into its Houston office during the past 12 months. The office now has nearly 220 employees, a 58% increase since June 2025.
