Pittsburgh-based IPA 400 firm Louis Plung & Company (LPC; FY24 net revenue of $12.9 million), Pennsylvania’s oldest independent CPA firm, announced the appointment of two new partners — Katee Monahan and Kelly Nelson — bringing the firm’s partner group to eight.
As the accounting industry continues to consolidate, LPC chose to remain independent. Rather than pursue outside capital or consolidation, the firm is investing in its people, promoting professionals committed to the firm’s long-term mission of delivering exceptional client service. The appointments of Monahan and Nelson reflect this strategy.
Monahan joined LPC in 2025, bringing 12 years of specialized audit experience in financial institution and credit union audits and employee benefit plan (EBP) audits. At LPC, she focuses on EBP audits as well as clients in the manufacturing, construction, nonprofit and investment fund industries.
Shortly after joining the firm, Monahan was named a Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Young Leader, a recognition that honors PICPA members under 40 who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the accounting profession.
Nelson brings 25 years of experience from a Big 4 public accounting firm, where she dedicated her career to trust and estate tax. At LPC, Nelson serves as part of the firm’s Family Advisory Services practice, bringing specialized knowledge on complex fiduciary and estate tax issues.
Their appointment to partner comes as Lindsay Andrews steps into the role of MP, effective July 1. For the past year, Andrews has served as Co-MP with Louis Plung, and her elevation to sole MP will make her the first non-family member and the first woman to hold that title in the firm’s 105-year history.

While Plung has stepped down as Co-MP, he will continue serving clients while supporting Andrews in her new role. “Lindsay is the right leader at the right time to make this transition,” Plung said.
