Schneider Downs Announces Leadership Appointments, Governance Transition

Pittsburgh-based IPA 100 firm Schneider Downs & Co. Inc. (FY24 net revenue of $132.0 million) has announced a series of leadership appointments and a transition to a single-CEO governance model, effective July 1.

Adam Goode

Adam Goode, currently chief executive officer-elect, will assume the role of CEO as the firm moves away from its co-CEO structure. The change is intended to strengthen governance, improve decision-making efficiency and better align leadership responsibilities.

“As Schneider Downs continues to grow in size and complexity, it is important that our leadership structure supports both operational excellence and long term strategic focus,” said Goode, CEO-elect.

Justin Steele

The firm has also created the role of chief operating officer. Justin Steele, currently tax practice unit leader, has been appointed COO and will oversee day-to-day operations, execution of strategy and the firm’s operating committee. Practice and affiliate leaders across tax, audit, consulting, wealth management, SD Digital and SD Capital will report to him.

“This role allows the CEO and board of directors to remain focused on long term growth and strategy, while ensuring strong execution and operational alignment across the firm,” Goode said.

Carley Taslov

Evan Ogrodnik

With Steele’s transition, Evan Ogrodnik has been named tax practice unit leader. In addition, Carley Taslov has been promoted to consulting practice unit leader, succeeding Goode in that role.

Current co-CEOs Chris McElroy and Steve Thompson will continue to support the leadership transition and remain involved in client service and firm growth initiatives.

“These leaders understand who we are, what we stand for and what has enabled Schneider Downs to thrive for more than 70 years,” Goode said. “Together, this team is well positioned to guide the firm into its next chapter.”
