GRF CPAs & Advisors Marks 45th Anniversary

Bethesda, Md.-based IPA Top 200 firm GRF CPAs & Advisors (FY24 net revenue of $53 million) is celebrating its 45th anniversary, marking more than four decades of service to clients and communities.

Founded in 1981 through the merger of the practices of Michael C. Gelman and Jerrold Rosenberg, the firm expanded in 1988 with the addition of Michael A. Freedman and formally became Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman, A Professional Corporation. Over the years, the firm has grown while maintaining its commitment to independence and client service.

Today, GRF CPAs & Advisors employs more than 200 staff, including more than 70 licensed CPAs and 40 partners and principals. The firm provides accounting, tax and advisory services to a diverse client base that includes nonprofit organizations, government contractors, middle-market businesses and individuals.

The firm is particularly known for its work with nonprofit organizations, helping mission-driven entities strengthen financial stewardship, governance and long-term sustainability. In addition to client service, team members actively support community organizations through board service, volunteer work and nonprofit partnerships.

“Our longevity is a direct result of staying true to who we are,” said Jackie Cardello, president and managing partner of GRF CPAs & Advisors. “GRF has intentionally chosen independence so we can put our clients first, invest in our people, and remain accountable to the communities we serve.”

“As advisors, we don’t just work in the community — we’re part of it,” said Trevor Williams, partner and director of diversity, equity and inclusion at the firm. “Board service, volunteering, and nonprofit partnerships are not side efforts; they’re an extension of our values.”

Looking ahead, the firm said it plans to continue focusing on innovation, leadership development and long-term client relationships while maintaining the culture and independence that have defined the organization for 45 years.

“Our future is about thoughtful growth, lasting relationships, and continued impact,” added Cardello. “The next chapter builds on the same foundation that has guided us since day one.”
