The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) has introduced Josi, a generative AI-enabled research tool that provides secure, direct access to the AICPA’s professional standards, authoritative guidance and related information.
Built on a large language model, Josi accelerates research, summarizes technical content and supports workflow automation. Drawing exclusively from the AICPA’s online professional library—comprising more than 40,000 accounting and auditing materials—it offers users greater accuracy and confidence in up-to-date results.
“AI has changed the rules on how businesses operate,” said Tom Hood, executive vice president of business engagement and growth for the AICPA and CIMA. “CPAs need a fast, modern way to find answers to their most pressing accounting and auditing questions, and Josi is tailormade to fill that need.”
The tool helps users generate engagement letters, research complex accounting questions, prepare for quality management standards changes and access Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) codifications directly within the platform.
Designed to be accessible for small to mid-size firms, Josi is priced for easy adoption. Since launch, more than 400 firms have purchased, trialed or demoed the tool.
Josi is named after Josiah Wedgwood, the 18th-century entrepreneur known as the father of cost accounting.
