Makosi Launches Workforce Analytics Solution to Help CPA Firms Boost Profitability

Makosi, a workforce solutions provider for accounting and advisory firms, has launched its Workforce Insights Navigator (WIN) Lab, a data-driven workforce analytics platform designed to help CPA firms improve efficiency and profitability.

Since its introduction earlier this year, dozens of firms—from Top 10 networks to mid-sized practices—have adopted WIN Lab to uncover profitability improvements of 20% to 35% through workforce model optimization and efficiency gains.

Drawing on tens of thousands of data points, WIN Lab benchmarks reveal that most CPA firms operate at utilization rates of just 55% to 65% among staff and managers, with significant unrealized profit potential tied to process inefficiencies and staffing models. According to Makosi, firms with $100 million in revenue typically have $10–$15 million in untapped profit potential, with roughly 80% driven by efficiency improvements.

“Most firms report on utilization, but they don’t always fully understand what it’s costing them,” said Lindsay Gaal, chief customer officer at Makosi. “They know there’s a problem, but when it comes to fixing it, they’re often left scratching their heads. We give them the ability and the roadmap to do exactly that.”

Through advanced analytics, peer benchmarking and real-time scenario modeling, WIN Lab enables firms to set profitability goals with precision and take a strategic, long-term approach to workforce planning. Many firms are reinvesting efficiency gains into expanding their onshore workforce, upgrading technology infrastructure and building more sustainable, future-ready operations.
