New York-based IPA 100 firm CohnReznick (FY25 net revenue $1.15 billion) announced the appointment of James Nielsen as managing director in its rapidly expanding valuation advisory services practice. Specializing in complex financial instruments, Nielsen will focus on strengthening the firm’s capabilities across private equity, private credit and structured financial products – areas of increasing demand in today’s evolving capital markets.
With more than 20 years of experience, Nielsen has advised private equity sponsors, credit managers, hedge funds, banks and insurers on portfolio mark-to-market, senior and subordinated debt, convertible instruments, non-performing loans and structured products such as CLOs, ABS and MBS. His expertise spans valuation for M&A transactions, financial reporting and regulatory compliance, and helping to ensure accuracy, transparency and alignment with industry standards. In his new role, Nielsen will lead a dedicated team serving private capital and structured finance clients nationwide.
“CohnReznick is focused on delivering high-impact valuation services that meet the evolving needs of financial institutions and investors,” said Brad Hirsch, partner and valuation advisory services practice leader. “James’s track record in private capital markets and structured products will help our clients navigate complexity with confidence, while fueling the continued growth of our valuation practice.”
