Houston-based IPA 100 firm Weaver (FY24 net revenue of $383.4 million) has announced that Jeff Hughes has joined the firm as a tax partner in private client services (PCS). Hughes will serve as Weaver’s first PCS partner in its San Diego office and as a key local leader in Southern California.
Hughes’ experience includes advising ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices and real estate investment groups on tax planning and compliance, with a focus on partnership structures and real estate investments. Over the past two decades, Hughes has provided comprehensive tax services for complex investment structures and family office entities, supporting multigenerational wealth planning, entity structuring and transactional consulting.
Before joining Weaver, Hughes focused on real estate and family office as a director at a global firm. He spent more than seven years as the principal and founder of a tax advisory firm and previously served in leadership roles at national and regional firms. He has advised clients on partnership taxation, 1031 exchange strategies, business valuations and M&A due diligence, consistently delivering solutions to minimize tax liability and support long-term financial goals.
“Jeff is developing a foundational presence for Weaver in San Diego while working closely with our established tax presence in Pasadena,” said Rob Nowak, national practice leader, tax. “His work will effectively support Weaver’s strategic growth, reaching from the Orange County market to San Diego County.”
“As the needs of private clients become more complex, proximity and personal relationships matter even more,” said John Mackel, CEO and MP. “Jeff’s leadership in San Diego positions us to serve clients where their needs are evolving most — at the intersection of complex wealth, real estate investment and multigenerational planning.”
