AICPA Launches .cpa Internet Domain in Canada

AICPA and its technology arm CPA.com are rolling out their .cpa website domain in Canada, allowing Canadian firms to now join their American counterparts in providing visitors with greater trust, security and verification that their site is confirmed to be affiliated with the CPA profession.

Canadian firms can now submit applications at domains.cpa/canada. To be eligible, Canadian CPAs and CPA firms must be licensed, and preferred names will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The .cpa domain was first launched by the AICPA in the U.S. in September of 2020, with thousands of U.S. CPAs and firms registering .cpa domains to date.

“Restricted domains are more secure, promote greater trust and credibility with clients and the general public, and enable stronger branding opportunities,” says CPA.com president and CEO Erik Asgeirsson. “We’ve seen great interest from the profession in this service offering and we’re excited to bring this important capability to CPAs in Canada now and to more countries in 2022.”
