Julio Gonzalez, CEO of Engineered Tax Services (ETS) of West Palm Beach, Fla., has founded Rockerbox, a new company focused on alerting CPAs to opportunities for claiming federal employer-based tax credits on behalf of their clients, including employee retention tax credits and work opportunity tax credits.
Under recently enacted new laws, employers who received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans can claim employee retention credit for qualified wages not treated as payroll costs to obtain forgiveness of their PPP loan. With employers having only until June 30 to file for these tax credits, Rockerbox is meant to make it easier for CPAs to find and file for these credits.
“I founded Rockerbox so that CPAs could help America’s struggling small businesses reap the benefits of employer-based tax credits,” says Gonzalez. “With small businesses under siege during the pandemic, they need all the tax relief they can get, and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
