Houston-based Calvetti Ferguson (FY15 net revenue of $9 million) has announced the acquisition of Jim Oliver & Associates P.C. of San Antonio, Texas, effective Dec. 1, 2016. Additionally, Sandra Schieffer, formally of Mangum, Schieffer, Bradley & Co., will join the firm Nov. 1.
“I am excited to announce the addition of Sandra, Jim and their respective teams to our firm,” says Jason Ferguson, MP of Calvetti Ferguson. “We established a foothold in San Antonio in 2014 with the expectation to be where we are today. The expertise, relationships and culture fostered by Jim and Sandra in their firms will only make us a more dynamic presence in the central Texas market.”
Oliver founded his firm in 1981. Since then he has grown the firm to represent a host of owner/operators, health care, real estate, legal professional clients and family offices. Oliver served as the technical editor of Today’s CPA, and provided his unique viewpoint in his column “The Closing Entry.” Oliver is also a member of the AICPA Council and is active on committees. Along with Oliver, six members of his staff will be joining Calvetti Ferguson.
“The foundation built at Calvetti Ferguson mirrors the foundation we have here,” says Oliver.
Schieffer was a founding partner at Mangum, Schieffer, Bradley & Co., also of San Antonio, where her practice consists primarily of energy-related clients and closely held family-owned businesses and the individuals who own them. She brings more than 35 years of experience as a CPA to Calvetti Ferguson and will bring four members of her staff to join the Calvetti Ferguson team.
“With the experience I have in providing tax consulting for energy companies, Calvetti Ferguson felt like the natural place to transition to,” says Schieffer. “Their breadth of knowledge in the energy market from being on both sides of the desk is something that I not only found impressive, but also very beneficial in making this decision.”
Calvetti Ferguson was named an IPA Best of the Best firm in 2015, and was honored with IPA’s Fastest-Growing Pyramid Award for its impressive 68% growth rate.
