Anthony J. Caleca has been elected MP of St. Louis-based Brown Smith Wallace (FY14 net revenue of $32.4 million) effective Jan. 1. He will be the first non-founder to lead the firm.
Harvey N. Wallace and Jeffrey S. Smith co-founded what has become Brown Smith Wallace today. Over the past four decades, one of the two co-founders has always led the firm. Smith was MP until 2008. In 2009, Wallace became MP.
Caleca has a long history with Brown Smith Wallace, starting in 1991 as an intern. He became the youngest person admitted to partnership at the firm in 2002.
The partner group started the process of selecting a new MP more than a year ago and unanimously elected Caleca last spring.
“He embodies everything that makes our culture so great – he’s dedicated and committed to our clients and the Brown Smith Wallace family,” Wallace says. Wallace will retain a seat on the firm’s executive committee.
Caleca now leads the Brown Smith Wallace audit and attestation services group, responsible for the group’s overall revenue growth, service offerings, quality control, staff development, community awareness and contribution to firm-wide goals.
“To start as an intern 20 years ago and now be selected to lead the firm is incredible,” Caleca says. “I have big shoes to fill. I’m humbled and honored to have this amazing opportunity.”
