INSIDE Public Accounting (IPA) has partnered with seven accounting associations to provide survey and benchmarking services for their member firms.
These national and international accounting associations have entrusted IPA with the task of surveying each of their member firms on a range of operational and financial issues and compiling a summary report for each association.
Currently, IPA is working with, Hampshire, England-based The Alliott Group, Gainsville, Fla.-based CPAmerica International and CPAConnect, Nashville, Tenn.-based Enterprise Worldwide, St. Charles, Ill.-based The Leading Edge Alliance and LEA Global, Saddle Brook, N.J.-based Moore Stephens North America, and Duluth, Ga.-based PrimeGlobal.
Under the partnership arrangement, not only can association firms benchmark against each other, but against all survey participants, expected to number close to 600 this year.
“We’re asking the same questions of everybody so every association that works with us gets an apples-to-apples comparison and they’re benchmarked against a much larger pool of firms,” says Kelly Platt, IPA publisher and coordinator of the annual survey process.
The information will be compared with the data IPA collects from hundreds of firms every year through its award-winning National Benchmarking Report, one of the most detailed in the profession. The survey and annual report began in 1990 and provides firm leaders with best practices and in-depth information on dozens of areas of firm operations, compensation, revenue and more.

Platt says member firms previously had been filling out surveys for their association and a separate one for IPA. “This process reduces ‘survey fatigue’ for member firms,” she says. “We manage the entire process. It frees up the association executives to be more active with their member firms, rather than focusing on surveys. We provide them with a customized, in-depth report on all their member firms.”
