Several partners, management personnel and clients at HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors of Tustin, Calif. (FY13 net revenues of $6.8 million) have completed their 35th annual “Death March,” in which they covered 20 miles of hiking trails over three days in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
The “Death March,” so named because of the physical rigors of the event, was begun by Gerry Herter, former MP, who is still with the firm. Herter says the event is not only fun and physically challenging, but it helps bring everyone together on a more personal level. “With the intense demands placed on members of the accounting profession nowadays, the Death March provides an enjoyable opportunity for team building amidst some of the most spectacular scenery North America has to offer,” says Herter.
Previous Death March events have been held in Glacier National Park, High Sierra, Yosemite, Kauai, the Grand Canyon, Rogue River and the Channel Islands.
