Express Scripts Holding Company has sued Ernst & Young, contending the Big Four Firm and a former employee stole 20,000 pages of confidential business information. Express Scripts, which manages drug benefits for health plans, hired E&Y to provide consulting services while combining its business with Medco Health Solutions.
Express Scripts accused the firm of taking “competitively sensitive cost and pricing information” and “highly proprietary” documents involving business and integration strategies, projections and performance metrics, according to the Dow Jones Newswires.
E&Y confirmed in a statement that there was a violation of company policies. The individual “at the center of these allegation,” the firm said, “is no longer with the firm.” E&Y also said it will “vigorously contest the claims” in the lawsuit. The firm said it acted quickly to secure the data prevented any harm to Express Scripts. No patient or health information was at issue.
